The front doors to the lobby will be closed during dress rehearsal. Families should enter through the northwest breezeway at the PAC. Everyone should be dressed for their first dance and seated in the auditorium by 1:00 for announcements & instructions. This is a full dress rehearsal. Recital make-up, hairstyles and costumes fixed & ready. Dress rehearsal is a closed rehearsal. Only 1 parent or adult should attend with each student. If dancers want to see the show, they must watch dress rehearsal. Dancers will not be allowed in the auditorium during the recitals.
Anyone who misses dress rehearsal will not be allowed to dance in the recital. This is the only opportunity to set staging and lighting-we ask for your patience. Students may leave the rehearsal once dismissed from stage after their last dance.
Photography & Video: All personal photography must be done at dress rehearsal only! While many cameras are small including cell phone cameras, we want to maintain a pleasant & safe atmosphere for everyone during recitals.

Stage Make-up & Hair: Please do make-up and hair at home before coming to the high school for rehearsal & recitals. Black mascara & black eye liner or false eye lashes (preferred), a dark rose blush, red lipstick, and nude or light pink shimmer eye shadow covering the entire eyelid. Stage lights are very bright so apply make-up generously.
Costumes: Students can come to the PAC in costume but please wear a cover-up. Bring other costumes & accessories to the dressing room. Wear a cover-up over costumes when out in the halls going to & from the restroom. No costumes should appear in public.
No food or drink in the auditorium or on carpeted areas--including the lobby! The lobby area will be closed during dress rehearsal. Students should eat before dress rehearsal & recitals. No Food Deliveries to the High School! Light snacks allowed in dressing rooms only. Do not bring burgers, fries, sandwiches, pop, pizza, etc. into the school. Please throw trash away in receptacles provided. No gum or candy on stage!

Student Pick-Up after Recitals: One parent should pick up dancers to avoid congestion in the halls. Men will not be allowed in girls dressing rooms. Backstage moms and monitors will be glad to assist fathers.
Admission to Recitals: No tickets required-first come, first serve. Lobby doors will open 30 mins prior to each show. Families are asked to arrive together and take seats in the auditorium. It is against fire code policy for audience members to stand in the hallways, sit in the aisle or on the stairs for any public event.
Professional Recital Recording: All About Now Photography will film the recital. Orders can be placed online. Digital downloads are $25.00, USB Drive is $45.00. Orders will be mailed to families within 2 weeks after the recital.
Bathroom Runs: Parents, please limit liquid intake prior to recitals and make sure dancers use the restroom before putting on their costume. Restrooms cannot be used for dressing rooms. It is recommended that students bring hand mirrors to use in dressing room areas.
Flowers & Gifts: The Stillwater High School Pom, will be selling recital bouquets in the lobby before each recital. Please support this fundraiser. A convenient way to congratulate your special dancers! Gifts for students should be presented before or after each recital. No balloon bouquets please!
Handicap Accessibility: The lobby entrance should be used for wheelchair & handicap admittance into the auditorium.
School Talent Shows: Dancers are encouraged to perform their dances in school talent shows, however please do not wear this year’s costumes. We suggest wearing costumes from previous a year or create something new!
Backstage Games, Coloring Books, Etc.: Young dancers are encouraged to bring games, coloring books, etc. to help pass the time backstage after they have finished dancing. No balloons or painting projects please!
Cell Phones: Please remember to put cell phones on vibrate or turn them off during dress rehearsal & recitals.
The Class Mother volunteers and backstage crew are in charge during recitals. All moms and helpers assisting dancers before each recital who are not designated Class Moms without name tags will be asked to leave the dressing rooms 10 minutes before each show. No one will be allowed into the dressing rooms except backstage crew members and class moms--even at intermission. Parents will not be allowed in the dressing rooms until the recital is over.
“Monitors” will guard the halls & dressing room areas to maintain security during the recitals. Volunteers working backstage are there to enforce the rules and maintain safety. Any exceptions to this policy must be cleared with Katy before the recital weekend. Everyone’s cooperation and understanding is greatly appreciated!
ALL STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO STAY BACKSTAGE UNTIL EACH RECITAL IS OVER
Exception: Pre K and Kinder classes in the Wind, Ensemble & Percussion Dressing Room may be picked up at Intermission. If they are picked up at intermission, you must leave the premises. They will not be allowed to sit in the audience and watch the second half of the recital and no costumes should be in the lobby or auditorium at any time during recitals--even on a hanger!
The following is a general list of dressing room assignments. Lists of dances will be posted outside each dressing room and areas will be organized within each dressing room for each class. Pre-school and Kinder Combo classes will be in the Wind Ensemble & Percussion Room. Grades 1st-up will be in the Band Room. Practice Rooms & backstage areas will be used for fast changes. All dressing rooms are located in the north hallway—please enter this area using the northwest breezeway door as this is more convenient--not through the lobby.
Recital T-Shirts: Orders for t-shirts due by Thursday, May 7 at 7:00pm.
Recital Picture Pick-Up: Anthony with Hart Portrait Artists is planning to be the hallway by the dressing room areas at the high school during rehearsal or recital for picture pick-up. If orders don’t arrive in time, they can be picked up at Hart Studio 111 E.12th Ave after June 10. Any late orders should be placed directly with Hart (405) 377-0911. Please remember to pick up your photos!
Dance Class Schedule During Recital Week: Showstoppers will have regularly scheduled dance classes through Thursday, May 21, 2026. No dance classes May 25-28.
Inclement Weather: Any last minute changes in the start time for dress rehearsal or recitals due to weather conditions will be posted on our social media. We will not make any cancellations if there is a weather “alert” or “watch.” If there is a weather warning for our community during rehearsal or recitals, the high school has a safety plan in place. We will resume performances when the “all clear” has been given.
“After the Show” Competition Dances Friday only--following the regular recital performance! Some of our most talented dancers will perform their competition routines. This includes solos, duets and small groups. A second 10 minute intermission break will be taken before these begin. Dancers are welcome to come into the auditorium and watch these performances. Leave costumes in dressing rooms!
All tuition and fees must be paid in full before costumes will be released to families.
If you have outstanding fees, please return costumes to the teacher during Parents Week until all fees are paid. Thank you!
