Attendance

Class attendance is very important for a dancer’s development, progress & sense of accomplishment. It is not necessary to notify us if dancers are absent on occasion. If there are repetitive absences, please contact us. Dancers are encouraged to watch class if they are unable to participate due to illness, injury, etc. A note from parents is preferred. Excessive absences may jeopardize a dancer’s privilege to perform in the spring recital.

Professional Days & Holidays:
Dance classes will meet on all days when school is out for Parent-Teacher conferences, professional days and on Martin L. King day.  Classes will not meet during fall break October 15-16, 2020, Thanksgiving break November 25-27, 2020, Christmas break December 21, 2020-January 1, 2021, Spring break March 15-20, 2021 and Memorial Day May 31, 2021.
Class Cancellation Policy:
When Stillwater Public Schools close, we will make our own determination about dance classes.  Please check Facebook or the home page of this website for the most current information. Decisions to cancel classes will be made by 2:00pm.

 

Tuition & Fees

Enrollment Fee:
Since class sizes are limited, a $30.00 Enrollment Fee is collected before classes begin to assure student attendance and to hold your class reservation. The fee is due by August 10, 2020. Please remember to submit payment in August to avoid late fees. For new students, the fee is due within 7 days of enrollment. This is non-refundable and non-transferable.

Monthly Tuition:
Due on or before the first lesson of each month. Monthly rates for each student: 1 subject – $45.00; 2 subjects — $65.00; 3 subjects — $85.00; 4 subjects — $105.00; 5 subjects— $125.00.

Ballet/Tap Combination Class — $55.00.  Ballet/Tap/Jazz Combo Class — $65.00

Please pay tuition promptly. A $10.00 per month late charge will be assessed if tuition is not received by the 30th of each month. Please pay by check, cash or money order. We do not accept credit or debit cards. Payments may be left under the front door anytime at your convenience if we are closed.  Please get a receipt for cash payments! Tuition fees are the same each month regardless of holidays or absences. There is a $25.00 charge for any checks returned to our office. To insure proper credit, please put students name on the check — especially if last names are different.

Recital Fee:  $25.00 per student due by March 15, 2021.  This helps cover additional costs associated with the annual dance recital.

Costume Information:  Costume prices range $40.00-$70.00 per costume.  Exact prices will be given to families in November after Thanksgiving.  All costumes must be paid in full by December 15, 2020.  Deposits are highly recommended especially for families with multiple children taking several classes.

Private Lessons:
$45.00/45 minutes. Regular class attendance is very important but in some situations private lessons may be necessary. These are scheduled individually with instructors.

Studio / Classroom

Students need to arrive promptly in proper dance attire and shoes. Please see our dress code and shoe requirements for specific information.

The dressing room and lobby areas are not to be used for a playground. Please wait quietly– no running or loud noises. This disrupts classes in session.

Please do not open the studio door to “peek” into class. This creates unnecessary distractions especially for younger classes.

Special times have been designated for parents to view their children’s progress known as “Parents Week.” Parents are invited to attend the regularly scheduled class. Due to limited seating, only parents should attend. Siblings, other family members and friends should not attend.  Extended family and friends are welcome to attend the annual spring dance recital.

Instructors want to address any concerns you may have however, classes are scheduled one right after the other. We want to give your concerns our undivided attention. You may call or e-mail us and we will personally address any issues as soon as possible.

Parents and students are asked not to bring food or drink in the building. Students should eat before and after class. Plain bottled water is allowed in dance bags. Light snacks are allowed for students in multiple classes on the same day.  No gum, candy, juice or pop.

Younger dancers are not left unattended so please be prompt in picking them up.  Students should not have to wait more than 5 minutes.  Teachers waiting with students are scheduled to work with other classes or have finished their shift waiting to leave.  Parents are asked to remind their children NOT to go outside unless you are there.

For your convenience, we have a circular drive for parents who wish to drop off and pick up their children at the front door but do not park or leave your car unattended in the circular drive. This will prevent traffic jams! DO NOT PARK OR DRIVE ON THE GRASS. If our parking lot is full, you may park across the street.  Please use extra caution upon entering and exiting the parking lot especially after dark. There are many young children coming and going from our facility.

Students are encouraged to practice their recital routines.  We are happy to record their music on a CD or flash drive.  You may send a new/unused CD–not DVD with them to class during the second semester.

Shoe Requirements

We carry dance shoes for our students so everyone will match in style and color.  We do not keep a large inventory, but we have shoes available for sizing and orders are placed on a regular basis.  This is a convenience we are happy to provide. Please purchase shoes through Showstoppers for class continuity.

Ballet Classes:  Girls Pre-K through 5th grade wear pink leather split-sole ballet shoes.  Boys wear black ballet shoes.

Tap Classes:  Girls tap classes grades K-4 need black patent Mary Jane tap shoes and boys wear black lace up shoes.  Grades 5-up wear women’s black leather character shoe 1 1/2″ or 2″ heel tap shoes. (Either heel height is acceptable)

Lyrical Ballet & Jazz Classes:  A tan slip-on shoe for all jazz classes and lyrical classes grades 6-up.

Pointe Classes:  Any pink satin pointe shoe is acceptable.  We recommend Show Biz in Oklahoma City or Black & Pink in Tulsa.

If you have shoes in other colors & styles, please feel free to wear them until new ones are needed and replace them with the shoes we carry. 

Dress Code

Dance Attire:  Appropriate attire is required for any activity.  Our dress code is VERY flexible.  Proper dress helps students move freely and allows the teacher to observe correct technique.  Please follow the dress code for dance classes.  Leotards, tights, leggings, sports bras and hot shorts are acceptable for dance class.  Leotards can be any color & style including those with or without skirts.  T-shirts may be worn with biker shorts or leggings ONLY!  Gym Shorts may be worn with leotards, sports bras or tank tops.  Dance pants can be worn in tap & jazz classes — not ballet, lyrical or pointe classes — legs need to be seen for proper technique.  Street clothes or pajamas are not acceptable.  It is very helpful if hair is secured away from eyes and out of the face.

Shop Showstoppers Dance Shoes:
For color and style uniformity we sell dance shoes for our students so please purchase dance shoes from Showstoppers.  We provide this convenience to our families and students to take the “guess work” out of sizing and ordering.  We also sell Showstoppers apparel!  Sales tax must be added to all purchases. We will be glad to assist you and we appreciate your business!

Policies

  • Please notify our office with any contact information changes. This includes mailing address, phone number, email address, schedule changes and/or drops.
  • Showstoppers is not responsible for lost articles. To avoid loss, please label all belongings or leave valuables at home.
  • Students should use the restroom before or after class.
  • Students should not use the restroom for a changing room.  Please use the dressing room to change clothes.
  • Phone messages often go unchecked when we are closed between the hours of 7:30pm Thursday-3:45pm the following Monday.  We will return calls and respond to emails promptly.
